I Miss Mexico

There’s something about Mexico that just stays with you. It’s not just the sunshine or the beaches—though those are hard to beat. It’s the people. The food. The way life slows down and everything feels just a little more real.

I came across this picture the other day—me and a taco stand owner, both grinning like we’ve known each other forever. We hadn’t. But in that moment, we connected over good food, a few laughs, and some shared thumbs-up energy. And I couldn’t help but think:

Man, I miss Mexico.

People Who Make You Feel at Home

One of the things I love most about Mexico is how welcoming everyone is. I’ve been in places where I didn’t speak the language well, where I was clearly just visiting—but I never once felt like an outsider. People smile. They make room for you at the table. They offer you something to eat, even if you just ate. And when they say mi casa es su casa, they mean it.

The guy in this photo? He wasn’t just selling tacos. He was serving joy. And that’s something I felt over and over again during my time in Mexico.

Culture That Wraps Around You

You don’t just see culture in Mexico—you feel it. In the music drifting through the air, in the murals on the walls, in the way families gather and laugh together over meals. There’s a deep history here, and it shows up in everyday life—from ancient ruins to Catholic traditions to modern street art and festivals.

And everyone seems to have time for what really matters. Conversations last longer. Meals aren’t rushed. Strangers strike up chats without a second thought.

Food That Hugs Your Soul

Let’s be honest: I still daydream about the food.

Street tacos at night, fresh off the grill. Tortillas so soft they melt in your mouth. Salsas ranging from “mmm” to “oh my God, my face is on fire.” Fruit carts, pan dulce, fish caught that morning, tamales sold out of a cooler in the back of someone’s car—it’s all unforgettable.

Food in Mexico isn’t just delicious—it’s part of the rhythm of life. Every meal is a moment.

Why I’ll Keep Coming Back

That photo is more than just a snapshot. It reminds me of how good it feels to slow down, to laugh with strangers, to eat something amazing and not worry about the next thing.

So yeah—I miss Mexico. I miss the people who made me feel like family. I miss the stories shared over tacos. I miss the sunsets and the siestas and the music around every corner.

And I’ll be back. Probably sooner than later.
