Whenever I can, I take a trip to Florida to visit my parents and my sister. Working and spending time for a few weeks at both their homes gives me the chance to reconnect and simply enjoy the pleasure of their company. During this trip, my mother shared a memory of my grandfather. He was a SeaBee from Pittsburgh, who served in the US Navy during World War 2. He was a carpenter assigned to units that were deployed across the isalnds of the Pacific, to build runways, camps, and provide infrastructure to the US Marines who ulltimately fought on those islands. His legacy in the Navy was one of the reasons I chose to serve in this branch. My son Joshua continues this tradition. The pictures are of my Grandfathers dogtags, a picture of him with Joshua as an infant, and a picture of Joshua as he serves as an Ensign at the US Navy Nuclear Propulsion School.
