A great movie, which continues to maintain it’s relevance today. 12 O’Clock High is a movie which takes place in 1942. The United States is committed to daylight bombing of Nazi Germany for it’s accuracy and ability to assess damage. However, the strategy has a high cost in number of bombers lost as well as their crews. One squadron has earned the name the “Hard Luck Squadron”, losing the highest number of bombers, crew, and plagued with maintenance issues as well as poor accuracy over their targets. Can the squadron be saved? Should it be separated, crews spread out among other squadrons? How can you take a poor performing team and turn it into the best? What type of leadership approach does it take?
